Devotion to St. Scholastica: The prayer that will bring you closer to the light

I want to dedicate this devotion to St. Scholastica of Norcia, a religious and saint of the order of Benedictine nuns. Her love for the church and her devotion to our God led to her being recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church.

St. Scholastica,

remember the tree under whose branches your life took refuge. The Benedictine cloister invokes you not only as the sister, but also as the daughter of its august Patriarch. From the top of the skies he contemplates the remains of the tree, once so vigorous and fruitful, in the shadow of which the nations of the West rested for long centuries. In every part the destroyer of impiety amused itself to strike: branches and roots. Everywhere there are ruins, covering the whole of Europe. Nevertheless, we know that it will have to revive and that it will sprout new branches, because the Lord wanted to link the fate of this ancient tree to the very destiny of the Church. Pray that the first sap may revive in it, protect the tender gems it produces with maternal care; defend them from storms, bless them and make them worthy of the trust that the Church places in them.

Saint Scholastica from Norcia, you who observe silence and avoid any kind of dialogue with strangers in the monastery, please listen to my suffocated prayer, I who love you. You who reside in the celestial kingdom ensure that my soul is welcomed and embraced and my heart illuminated by your venerated presence.

You who live in all of us faithful, show me the right path and unite my humble and poor soul to that of my brothers who are fortunate to reside for eternity in the celestial kingdom. Every time I pray, you are here with me, O Saint Scholastica, listen to me and welcome me among the good and the faithful, so that my heart may feel full of joy. Amen
