Devotion to the Guardian Angels: the Rosary to invoke their presence

Only four centuries have passed since, in 1608, devotion to the Guardian Angels was accepted by the Holy Mother Church as a liturgical memory, with the institution of the feast set for October 2 by Pope Clement X. But in reality the awareness of the The existence of a Guardian Angel placed by God alongside every human being has always been present in the People of God and in the secular Tradition of the Church. In the book of Exodus, written around the sixth century BC, the Lord God says: "Behold, I am sending an Angel before you to keep you on the way and to let you enter the place I have prepared" (Ex. 23,20:XNUMX). Without ever formulating a dogmatic definition in this regard, the ecclesial Magisterium has affirmed, in particular with the Council of Trent, that each human being has his own Guardian Angel.

Resuming the teaching of the Council of Trident, the Catechism of Saint Pius X states: "The angels that God has destined to guard us and guide us on the road to health are said to be custodians" (n. 170) and the guardian angel "assists us" with good inspirations and, by reminding us of our duties, guides us on the path of good; offers our prayers to God and obtains his graces from us "(n. 172).

With this Holy Rosary we meditate on the truth of faith on the existence of the Angels, drawing inspiration from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which begins to deal with the Guardian Angels in Chapter I, par. 5.

The N. 327 in a particular way, it introduces the Christian in a very clear way to knowledge about the existence of Angels: <>.

We want to honor the Angels and thank them for the service they perform towards all men and show particular devotion to our Guardian Angel.

The prayer scheme is that of the traditional Marian Rosary, because we cannot honor the Angels separately from the Adoration for our Triune God and from the veneration of our Mother Mary Most Holy, Queen of the Angels.

+ In the Name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, come save me.

O Lord, make haste to help me.

Gloria

1st meditation:

The existence of spiritless, incorporeal beings, which Sacred Scripture usually calls Angels, is a truth of faith. The testimony of Scripture is as clear as the unanimity of Tradition (CCC, n. 328). Due to the fact that the Angels always see the face of the Father who is in heaven (cf Mt 18,10), they are powerful executors of His commands, ready to the voice of His word (cf. Ps 103,20. CCC. N. 329).

Our Father, 10 Ave Maria, Gloria.

Angel of God, who you are my custodian, illuminate, guard, rule and govern me, who was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen.

2st meditation:

In all their being, the Angels are servants and messengers of God (CCC, n. 329). As purely spiritual creatures, they have intelligence and will: they are personal and immortal creatures. They outperform all visible creatures. The splendor of their glory testifies to this (Cf.Dn 10,9-12. CCC, n.330).

Our Father, 10 Ave Maria, Gloria.

Angel of God, who you are my custodian, illuminate, guard, rule and govern me, who was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen.

3st meditation:

The Angels, since creation (cf. Job 38,7) and throughout the history of salvation, announce this salvation from afar or close up and serve the fulfillment of God's salvific plan. They guide the People of God, assist the Prophets (cf. 1 Kings 19,5). It is the Angel Gabriel who announces the birth of the Precursor and that of Jesus (cf. Lk 1,11.26. CCC, n. 332)

Our Father, 10 Ave Maria, Gloria.

Angel of God, who you are my custodian, illuminate, guard, rule and govern me, who was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen.

4st meditation:

From the Incarnation to the Ascension, the life of the Incarnate Word is surrounded by the adoration and service of the Angels. When God introduces the Firstborn into the world he says: "Let all the Angels of God worship him" (cf. Heb 1,6). Their song of praise at the birth of Christ has not ceased to resound in the praise of the Church: <> (cf Lk 2,14:1,20). The Angels protect Jesus' infancy (cf. Mt 2,13.19; 1,12), they serve Jesus in the desert (cf. Mk 4,11; Mt 22,43), they comfort him during his agony (cf. Lk 2,10 , 1,10). It is the Angels who evangelize (see Lk 11:13,41) by announcing the Good News of the Incarnation and Resurrection of Christ. At the return of Christ, which they announce (cf. Acts 12,8-9), they will be there, at the service of His judgment (cf. Mt 333; Lk XNUMX-XNUMX). (CCC, no XNUMX).

Our Father, 10 Ave Maria, Gloria.

Angel of God, who you are my custodian, illuminate, guard, rule and govern me, who was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen.

5st meditation:

From infancy (cf. Mt 18,10) until the hour of death human life is surrounded by their protection (cf. Ps 34,8; 91,10-13) and by their intercession (cf. Job 33,23). -24; Zc 1,12; Tb 12,12). Each member of the faithful has an Angel as their protector and shepherd, to lead him to life (San Basilio di Caesarea, Adversus Eunomium, 3,1.). Since here, the Christian life has participated, in the Faith, in the blessed community of Angels and men, united with God. (CCC, n. 336).

Our Father, 10 Ave Maria, Gloria.

Angel of God, who you are my custodian, illuminate, guard, rule and govern me, who was entrusted to you by heavenly piety. Amen.
