Devotion to the dead: the Triduum of prayer begins today

To support the Souls of Purgatory
Eternal and almighty Lord, for that very precious blood that your divine Son scattered throughout the course of his passion, and especially from the hands and feet on the tree of the cross, free from their pains the souls of purgatory, and, before the others those for which I have the greatest obligation to pray to you, or who deserve our best efforts for having professed particular devotion to the pains of Jesus and his most afflicted Mother Mary in life.
Holy Father, my Creator and my God, among whose arms I am about to take the rest of this night, I cannot close my eyes to sleep without first recommending you to my loved ones who are suffering in Purgatory. My sweet Father, remember that those Souls are your daughters, who have loved you and love you above all things, and among the sufferings of Purgatory, more than the liberation from pain, they yearn to finally be able to see you and to be united forever to you. Please, open your paternal arms for them, call-evil to You. In expiation for their sins, accept from me the offer of all the infinite merits of the life, passion and death of Jesus. On this night I intend to repeat this precious offer to every beat of my heart. O Queen of the universe, most holy Virgin Mary, whose admirable power also extends to Purgatory, I pray that among the Souls who experience the sweet effects of your maternal protection, there are also those of my loved ones. I recommend you for that sword of pain that pierced your soul under the cross of the dying Jesus. De Profundis. Our Father, Ave Maria, Eternal Rest.

Petition to Jesus for the souls of Purgatory

Most lovable Jesus, today we present to you the needs of the Souls of Purgatory. They suffer so much and ardently desire to come to You, their Creator and Savior, to remain with You forever. We recommend to you, O Jesus, all the Souls of Purgatory, but especially those who died suddenly from accidents, injuries or illnesses, without being able to prepare their soul and possibly free their conscience. We also pray for the most abandoned souls and those closest to glory. We particularly implore you to have mercy on the souls of our relatives, friends, acquaintances and also of our enemies. We all intend to apply the indulgences that will be available to us. Welcome, most pitiful Jesus, these humble prayers of ours. We present them to you through the hands of Mary Most Holy, your Immaculate Mother, the glorious Patriarch St. Joseph, your putative Father, and all the Saints in Paradise. Amen.
