Devotion to the Sacred Heart: the perpetual consecration of the family
CONSECRATION OF THE FAMILY TO THE SACRED HEART
I will bless the houses where the image of my S. Heart is exposed and honored.
I will bring peace to families. I will console them in their pains. (Promises of the Holy Heart to
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque).
The consecration of the family is an act of faith, in the love of Jesus Christ;
reparation for the sins of families and society for the profanation of God's rights;
of trust in divine help;
of commitment to Christian life according to the law of God.
Preparation
The family should prepare to receive well the Lord, chief, King of love of his home, possibly with confession and Communion.
A picture or statuette of the Holy Heart is procured to be placed in a place of honor.
On the appointed day, the Priest and also relatives and friends are invited for the ceremony.
Function
We pray some prayers, at least the Creed, Our Father, Ave Maria. The Priest, having blessed the house and the painting, addresses words of fervor to all.
Then everyone reads the consecration prayer.

Everyone - and everyone who lives in it.
Sac. - Our help is in the name of the Lord

Sac. - The Lord be with you
Everyone - And with Your Spirit!
Sac. - Bless, O Lord, Almighty God, this house, so that you may always prosper in it health, goodness, peace, love and praise to the Father and Son and Holy Spirit: and this blessing will always remain on how many a-bits in it now and always. Amen.
Hear us, O Holy Lord, all-powerful Eternal God, and deign to send your Angel from heaven, to visit, guard, comfort, protect and defend our family. For Christ our Lord, Amen.
Blessing of the painting
Almighty eternal God, who accepts the worship of the images of your saints, so that by contemplating them we are led to imitate their virtues, deigned to bless and sanctify this image dedicated to the Sacred Heart of your Son, the only-born Our Lord Jesus Christ, and grant that whoever will pray with faith before the Sacred Heart of Your Son, and will study to honor him, obtain grace for His merits and intercessions in this life and one day eternal glory. For Christ our Lord, Amen.
Consecration prayer
O Jesus, whom you manifested in St. Margaret Mary - the desire to reign with your Heart on the Christian families - we want to proclaim today - your kingship to love our family.
We all want to live from now on - as you want: - we want to make our virtues flourish in our home - to which you have promised peace down here.
We want to keep away from us all that is contrary to You. You will reign - over our intellect, for the simplicity of our faith; - on our hearts for the continuous love - which we will have for you - and which we will revive - often receiving Holy Communion.
Deign, O Divine Heart, - to always remain among us, - to bless our spiritual and material activities, - to sanctify our joys - to lift our pains.
If ever one of us - had the misfortune to offend you - remind him or Jesus, - that you have a good and merciful Heart - with the sinner who repents.
And in the days of sorrow - we will be confidently submissive - to your divine will. We will console ourselves by thinking - that a day will come - when the whole family, - gathered happily in heaven - will be able to sing forever - your glories and your benefits.
We present to you today - this our consecration - through the Immaculate Heart of Mary - and its glorious Bridegroom St. Joseph, - so that with their help - we can put it into practice - in all the days of our lives.
Sweet Heart of my Jesus, make me love you more and more.
Heart of Jesus, come your kingdom.

Sac .: O Lord Jesus, I thank you that today you wanted to choose this family as yours and you always want to protect it as the favorite of your Heart.
Strengthen faith and increase charity in all: give us the grace to always live according to your Heart.
Make this house the image of your home in Nazareth and everyone is always your faithful friends. Amen.
At the end the diploma-souvenir is signed and the S. Heart is placed in the place of honor. To live according to the spirit of consecration, the Apostolate of Prayer should be practiced:
1) offering everything every day to the Holy Heart of Jesus;
2) often participating in Holy Mass and Communion, especially on the first Friday of the month;
3) praying together in the family, possibly the Holy Rosary or at least ten Hail Marys.

RECOGNIZES the sovereignty of love of the divine Redeemer, who on the model of His union with the Church, instituted the sacrament of marriage and leads the family to carry out the high mission which it has entrusted to it;
PROMISES, as a "domestic Church" to give Him testimony in the education of children, in the general adherence to the Gospel and to the teachings of the Church;
HOPES from the infinite goodness of his Heart to obtain re-dedication, safety of life and health, help and protection in all circumstances.
