THE FIFTEEN FRIDAYS OF THE SACRED HEART
Maria Santissima is honored by the faithful, not only with the practice of the first five Saturdays of the month, but also with the fifteen consecutive Saturdays, which take place twice a year, closing the first round on May XNUMX, the feast of St. Michael Archangel, and the second round on October XNUMX, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The piety of the faithful made it possible to pay a similar homage to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, honoring him, not only with the first nine Fridays, but also with the fifteen consecutive Fridays.
This practice does not take anything away from the revelation of the Great Promise, being only an intensification of reparation, given the increase in iniquity in the world. The author of these pages has taken an interest in the devotion of the Fifteen Fridays spreading everywhere. In a few years the pious practice has penetrated all over the world, has been well received by the devotees of the Sacred Heart, has produced and continues to produce very fertile fruits in souls. The manual, which now circulates in seven languages and which bears the Blessing of Pope John XXIII, can serve as a guide for willing souls.
The purpose and the way of doing this are presented.
The main end of the Fifteen Fridays is the reparation to the Sacred Heart, keeping in mind every Friday a particular category of sins gives reparation: either the sacrileges, or the blasphemies, or the scandals, etc.
The secondary end is to obtain thanks. The Heart of Jesus, repaired and consoled by these repairing Communions, proves to be very large in granting exceptional graces and favors. The rapid and dense diffusion of the Fifteen Fridays could not be explained if the faithful had not ascertained the generosity of Jesus in giving thanks.
Here are the rules:
Each one, privately, can perform the devoted practice at any time of the year.
There are two solemn shifts: the first starts in mid-March and ends on the last Friday in June; thus completing fifteen weeks.
The second round begins in mid-September and closes on the last Friday of December.
In very urgent cases fifteen Communions can be made in a row, that is, pious practice is accomplished in two weeks.
When expecting very important graces, it is recommended that several people do the Fifteen Fridays together.
Those who, due to impediment or forgetfulness, could not communicate on any Friday, could make up for any day before the following Friday arrives.
When a Friday coincides with the First Friday of the month, the Communion satisfies one and the other practice.
It is not necessary to confess each time that we communicate; it is necessary to be in the grace of God.
The Fifteen Fridays can also be held to give suffrage to the dead, since Jesus, consoled by many reparatory Communions, will console the souls of Purgatory in return. Instant healing
Who writes this Month of the Sacred Heart is aware of many graces, even very important, obtained through the practice of the Fifteen Fridays, graces that concern both the soul and the body.
Here is an example.
In my home, in Catania-Barriera, I was visited by two spouses, quite advanced over the years. The woman said to me: Father, my husband is ill; for four years he has had a gastric ulcer; he cannot take food easily, because the pain intensifies; he is a farmer and cannot go to work, because bending he suffers too much. Help us, as a priest, to obtain healing from God. - I turned to the man: Do you go to church? - Actually no; rather, I prevent my wife from going there. - Do you say some blasphemy? - Every moment; is my language. - You haven't communicated for a long time? - Since I married; tens of years. - But how does God demand the grace of healing, if he does not change his life ?! ... - I promise you! I need health very much, because the family is in sad conditions.
- And then promise to communicate on Friday for fifteen weeks, in reparation for sins. If he wants to confess now, he can do it.
- I prefer to confess to my country. - Free to do it. - After that, we prayed to the Sacred Heart together. The good Jesus, happy with the return of that sheep to the sheepfold, worked the miracle.
The poor man said to his wife: Do you know that I no longer feel pain? What is my impression? - When he got home, he tried to eat and felt no disturbance; it was so in the following days. He resumed the habit of Sumerian foods that were not easy to digest and felt neither pain nor difficulty. He began the work of hoe, without feeling the ancient pain. To reassure himself, after a few months he underwent a visit to a specialist in Catania, and he, giving him the X-ray film, said to him: The gastric ulcer is gone; not even the trace remains! -
The miraculously communicated every Friday in honor of the Sacred Heart and never tired of telling his case to friends, concluding: I did not believe that these things could happen; yet, I am witness of it! -
