Intention. - To mend the irreverences that are done in the Churches.

HOLY HOUR
The suffering that Jesus felt in the Garden of Gethsemane, nobody can fully understand it. It was so great as to produce an unparalleled sadness in the Heart of the Son of God, so much so that he exclaimed: My soul is sad to the death! (S. Matteo, XXVI38).

In that hour of pain he saw all the torments of the Passion and the accumulation of iniquity of men, for which he offered to repair.

"The spirit is ready, he said, but the flesh is weak! »(St. Matthew, XXVI-41).

Such was the spasm of the Heart that the Body of the Redeemer sweated Blood.

Jesus, as a Man, felt the need for comfort and sought it from the most intimate Apostles, Píetro, Giacomo and Giovanni; to this end he had led them with him to Gethsemane. But the Apostles, tired, fell asleep.

Distressed by so much abandonment, he woke them complaining: "And so, you could not watch over me even an hour? Watch and pray ... »(St. Matthew, XXVI-40).

The Gethsemane of twenty centuries ago is repeated mysteriously even today. The Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, Prisoner of love in the Tabernacles, in an inexplicable way suffers from the effects of humanity's faults. To privileged souls, and in particular to Santa Margherita, he asked many times to keep him company in front of the Tabernacle, for an hour, during the night, to console him.

Known the explicit desire of Jesus, the souls who love the Sacred Heart became attached to the practice of the Holy Hour.

In this month of the Sacred Heart we deepen the high meaning of the Holy Hour, to appreciate it and to do it with frequency and devotion.

The Holy Hour is an hour of company that is done to Jesus in memory of the agony of Gethsemane, to console him of the offenses he receives and to repair him from abandonment, in which he is left in the Tabernacles by unbelievers, infidels and villains Christians.

This hour can be done solemnly in the Church, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed, and it can also be done privately, either in the Church or at home.

Pious souls who make the Holy Hour private in the Church, there are few; the reason for domestic affairs is cited. Those who were really prevented from staying in the Church could also keep Jesus company in the family. How to behave in practice?

Retreat to your own bedroom; turn to the nearest Church, as if to put yourself in direct relationship with Jesus in the Tabernacle; to recite slowly and with devotion the prayers of the Holy Hour, contained in special booklets, or to think about Jesus and how much he suffered in his Passion, or to recite any prayer. Invite your Guardian Angel to join in the worship.

The soul absorbed in prayer cannot escape the loving gaze of the Heart of Jesus. Immediately a spiritual current is formed between Jesus and the soul, bringing pure joy and profound peace.

Jesus said to his Servant Sister Menendez: I recommend the exercise of the Holy Hour to you and my dear souls, since this is one of the means of offering God the Father, through the mediation of Jesus Christ, an infinite reparation. -

The ardent desire of the Sacred Heart, therefore, is this: that its devotees love it and repair it with the Holy Hour. How much would Jesus like an organization of shifts in this regard!

A group of devotees of the Divine Heart, led by a fervent person, could agree to take turns, especially on Thursdays, Fridays and public holidays, so that at different times there may be those who repair the Heart of Jesus.

The most comfortable hours are those of the evening and also the most propitious, because the most serious offenses are the soles to receive Jesus in the hours of darkness, especially in the evening of holidays, a time when the mundane give themselves to mad joy.

EXAMPLE
Ask for permission first!
It has been said above that at the first stage of the revelations of the Sacred Heart in Santa Margherita, difficulties arose in believing what the Sister claimed to see and hear; all arranged by Providence, so that the Saint might be humiliated. Little by little it shone.

What is now narrated happened towards the beginning of the revelations.

The Sacred Heart, eager for Margaret to make a Holy Hour, said to her: Tonight you will get up and come before the Tabernacle; from eleven to midnight you will keep me company. First ask permission from the Superior. -

This Superior did not believe in the visions and wondered that the Lord could speak to a nun so uneducated and not very capable.

When the Saint asked for permission, the Mother replied: What nonsense! What a beautiful fantasy you ever have! So, do you really think that Our Lord has appeared to you!? ... Do not even remotely believe that I will allow you to get up at night to go to Holy Hour. -

The next day Jesus reappeared and Margherita said to her saddened: I could not have permission and I did not satisfy your desire.

- Don't worry, Jesus replied, that you didn't disgust me; you obeyed and gave me glory. However, he asks for permission again; tell the Superior that you will please me tonight. - Again he had the refusal: Getting up at night is an irregularity in common life. I don't give permission! - Jesus was deprived of the joy of a Holy Hour; but she was not indifferent, as she said to her favorite: Warn the Superior that, in punishment for not having given you permission, there will be mourning in the Community within the month. A nun will die. -

Within the month a nun passed to eternity.

We learn from this episode to overcome the difficulties that can sometimes arise when the Lord inspires us to offer him a Holy Hour.

Foil. Gather at some time of the day to do some Holy Hour.

Ejaculation. Jesus, increase faith, hope and charity in me!
