Devotion to Our Lady: she is the blessed above all women

We want to join our Redeemer in this consecration for the world and for men, who, in his divine Heart, has the power to obtain forgiveness and provide reparation. "The power of this consecration" lasts for all times and embraces all men, peoples and nations, and overcomes all evil, which the spirit of darkness is capable of reawakening in the heart of man and in its history and which, in fact, it has reawakened in our times. Oh, how deeply we feel the need for consecration for humanity and for the world: for our contemporary world, in union with Christ himself! Indeed, the redemptive work of Christ must be participated in by the world through the Church. Be blessed, "above every creature" You, Servant of the Lord, who in the fullest way obeyed the Divine call! Be saluted You, who "are wholly united" to the redemptive consecration of Your Son!

Particularly important for the religious history of Piove di Sacco is the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, located just outside the historic center of the city. It seems that in this place in the remote past there was a small convent of Franciscan friars and that the construction of the current temple of the "Madonna delle Grazie" began around 1484. According to legend, the church and monastery, now destroyed, were built in following a miraculous event. It is said that the two Sanguinazzi brothers came to face each other in a duel to decide who would keep an image of the Madonna and Child inherited from their parents but were stopped by the exploration of a child who spoke in the name of God. The brothers were forced to bring the image in a chapel available to the whole community of the faithful and, subsequently, given the succession of miracles, the construction of the religious complex was decided. The painting of the Virgin and Child, attributed to the Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini, is still the greatest masterpiece of the Sanctuary today.
