The story of the apparitions
Bruno Cornacchiola (Rome, 9 May 1913 - 22 June 2001), after getting married, participated in the Spanish civil war as a volunteer. He became an Adventist after being convinced by a German Lutheran soldier, he was an anti-Catholic fanatic, despite the attempts of his wife Iolanda (1909 - 1976) to bring him back to the Catholic faith [2].

On April 12, 1947 he went with his three children - Gianfranco, Carlo and Isola, respectively aged 4, 7 and 10 - to the place of Rome called the "Three Fountains", so called because, according to tradition, the head of the Apostle Paul, bouncing three times after the beheading, would have caused three sources to flow.

According to Cornacchiola's account, he was preparing a report to read in a conference, in which he attacked the Catholic theses of virginity, the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption of Mary. The youngest son, Gianfranco, had disappeared in pursuit of a ball, and his father found him on his knees and in a trance in front of one of the natural caves in the area, while murmuring "Bella Signora".

The other two children also fell into a trance, kneeling; the father then entered the cave, and there he would see the Madonna. The man said that she was blazing in her beauty, that she wore a long white dress, held at the waist by a pink sash, and a green cloak, which, resting on black hair, went down to her bare feet. He also said that he was clutching a Bible, which symbolically represents the source of Revelation [3], and that he would say to him:

«I am the Virgin of Revelation. You persecute me. Now stop! Enter the holy fold. What God promised is and remains unchanging: the nine Fridays of the Holy Heart, which you celebrated, driven by the love of your faithful bride before you definitively took the path of error, saved you. "

Bruno Cornacchiola says that, hearing these words, he felt immersed in a state of profound joy, while a sweet scent was spreading in the cave [4]. Before saying goodbye, the Virgin of Revelation would have left a mark on him, so that man had no doubt about the divine and non-diabolical origin of the vision. The test concerned the future meeting between Cornacchiola and a priest, which would occur later precisely according to what was announced [5]. Following the abjura, Cornacchiola was again accepted into the Catholic community.

Cornacchiola then said that he had other apparitions, on May 6, 23 and 30; subsequently he prepared a text, in which he described his conversion, and this was posted at the entrance of the cave on September 8, 1948. The place became a pilgrimage destination.

Cornacchiola met Pius XII on December 9, 1949: he confessed to the pontiff that ten years earlier, on his return from the Spanish civil war, he had planned to kill him [6]. After this episode, a statue of Mary was carved, according to the indications of the seer, and was placed in the cave, where healings and conversions now take place [7].

On April 12, 1980, on the thirty-third anniversary of the alleged apparition, three thousand people claimed to have witnessed a solar prodigy, describing it later in detail [6]. The phenomenon would repeat itself two years later. On this occasion, Bruno Cornacchiola said he had received a message where Our Lady asked him to build a sanctuary in the place of the apparition. Cornacchiola would have had lifelong dreams and prophetic visions: from the tragedy of Superga (1949) to the Kippur war (1973), from the kidnapping of Aldo Moro (1978) to the attack on John Paul II (1981), up to the disaster of Chernobyl '(1986) and the fall of the twin towers (2001) [8].

The spiritual message of the Virgin of Revelation inspired the establishment of the "SACRI" catechetical association (Arditi Schiere of Christ the Immortal King), founded on April 12, 1948 in Rome by Bruno Cornacchiola.
