Devotion to the Holy Wounds: the divine revelation of Sister Martha

It was August 2, 1864; he was 23 years old. In the two years that followed the Profession, except for an uncommon way of praying and constant recollection, nothing remarkable appeared in the behavior of Sister M. Marta that could foreshadow the extraordinary, supernatural thanks she will enjoy later.
Before mentioning them it will be good to say that everything we are about to write is taken from the manuscripts of the Superiors to whom Sister M. Marta confided everything that happened to her, spurred on by Jesus himself who one day said to her: «Tell your Mothers to write everything that comes from me and what comes from you. It is not bad that your defects are known: I want you to reveal everything that occurs in you, for the good that will result one day, when you will be in Heaven ».
She certainly could not check the writings of the Superior but the Lord took care of it; at times the humble converse who reported that Jesus had said to her reappeared: «Your Mother has omitted to write this thing; I want it to be written. '
The Superiors, on the other hand, had had the advice to put everything in writing and to keep the secret on these confessions even from enlightened ecclesiastical superiors, to whom they had addressed in order not to assume entirely the responsibility of that extraordinary sister; they, after a serious and complete examination, agreed in affirming that "the way by which Sister M. Marta walked had the imprint of the divine"; so they did not neglect to report anything that that sister told them and left, at the beginning of their manuscripts, this declaration: "In the presence of God and our SS. Founders we transcribe here, out of obedience and as exactly as possible, what we believe to be manifested by Heaven, for the good of the Community and for the benefit of souls, thanks to a loving predilection for the Heart of Jesus ».
It must also be said that, with the exception of some austerities desired by God and his supernatural experiences which always remained the secret of the Superiors, the virtues and the external behavior of Sister M. Marta never strayed from the humble visiting life; there was nothing simpler and more ordinary than his occupations.
Appointed refectorate of the Educandate, she spent her entire life in this office, working hidden and silent, often far from the company of her sisters. She carried out a great deal of work because she also cared for the choir and was entrusted with the collection of fruit which, in some seasons, forced her to get up at four in the morning.
The Superiors, however, who knew her intimacy with God, began to instruct her to intercede with him. In 1867, cholera raged in Savoy and made numerous victims also in Chambery. The mothers, alarmed, made her ask to save the community from the disease and if they had to accept the boarders that year. Jesus replied that he let her in immediately and promised immunity; in fact, none in the monastery was affected by the terrible disease.
It was on this occasion that, promising his protection, the Lord asked, together with some penance, "prayers in honor of the SS. Wounds. "
For some time, Jesus had entrusted Sister M. Marta with the mission of making the merits of his Passion bear fruit "by offering his SS. Wounds for the Church, the Community, for the conversion of sinners and for the souls of Purgatory », but now he asked the whole monastery for it.
«With my wounds - he said - you share all the riches of Heaven to Earth», - and again - «You must make these treasures of my SS fruitful. Wounds. You must not be poor while your Father is so rich: your wealth is my S. Passion "
