Devotion of December 31, 2020: what awaits us?

Scripture reading - Isaiah 65: 17-25

“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. . . . They will not harm or destroy on all my holy mountain “. --Isaiah 65:17, 25

Isaiah 65 gives us a preview of what lies ahead. In the concluding part of this chapter, the prophet tells us what is in store for creation and for all who look forward to the coming of the Lord. Let's get an idea of what it will look like.

There will be no more difficulties or struggles in our life on earth. Instead of poverty and hunger, there will be plenty for everyone. Instead of violence, there will be peace. "The sound of crying and crying will no longer be heard."

Instead of experiencing the effects of aging, we will enjoy a youthful energy. Instead of letting others appreciate the fruits of our labors, we will be able to enjoy and share them.

In the Lord's kingdom of peace, all will be blessed. Animals too will neither fight nor kill; “The wolf and the lamb will graze together, the lion will eat straw like the ox. . . . They will not harm or destroy on all my holy mountain “.

One day, perhaps sooner than we think, the Lord Jesus will return to the clouds of heaven. And on that day, according to Philippians 2: 10-11, every knee will bend and every tongue will confess "that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Pray that day may come soon!

Prayer

Lord Jesus, come quickly to realize your new creation, where there will be no more tears, no more crying and no more pain. In your name we pray. Amen.
