Devotion of the day: consequence on little things

Consequence of a virtuous act. It seems a mystery to say that holiness, Heaven often depends on a small thing. But didn't Jesus say that the Kingdom of Heaven is similar to the tiny mustard seed which then grows and becomes a tree? Can't we see in S. Antonio the Abbot, in S. Ignazio, their sanctification begins by following a holy inspiration? A grace, well received, is a link to a hundred others. You think about it?

Consequences of a venial sin. To say that only one of these can lead to damnation seems odd; yet, isn't a spark enough to wake up a great fire? Isn't a tiny, neglected microbe enough to lead to the grave? Sins happen too easily; on a mountain slope the fall is too easy. The experience of others and your own tell you that mortal sin is just a step away from venial. And you multiply venialities without regard! So you want to cry some day?

Caution of the Saints on the little things. Why on earth do fervent Christians put so much effort into multiplying little ejaculations, little sacrifices, to earn Indulgences? To enrich our heavenly crown with every little gem, they say. And you can't imitate them? Why do they flee, to the point of scruple, venial sins, and protest dying before deliberately making one? They are offended to Jesus, they say; and how to offend him, while he loves us so much? ... If you loved Jesus, would you not offend him?

PRACTICE. - Repeat in the day: My Jesus, I want to be all yours, and never offend you again.
