Devotion of the day: avoid eternal damnation

What are you missing to save yourself? Do you miss God, his grace? But you know what He has done for you, with numberless favors, with the Sacraments, with inspirations, with giving you the Blood of Jesus ... Even now you cannot deny that He is very close to you to save you ... Do you lack the capacity? But the Cycle is open for everyone… Do you lack the time? But the years of life are given to you only to save yourself. Isn't your perdition voluntary?

Who makes you damn yourself? The devil? But he is a dog that barks, a chained dog that cannot bite except those who voluntarily consent to his iniquitous suggestions… The passions? But these do not drag only those who do not want to fight them ... Your weakness? But God does not abandon anyone. Maybe your fate? But no, you are free; therefore it depends on you ... What excuse will you find in the day of Judgment?

Is it easier to save yourself or to be damned? It seems difficult to save oneself for constant vigilance, for the obligation to carry the cross, to practice virtue; but the grace of God smoothes out many difficulties… To damn themselves the servants of the devil how many difficulties, remorse and contradictions must they undergo! To be damned it is necessary to act against the conscience that repels, against God who terrifies, against education, against the tendencies of the heart ... It is therefore difficult to be damned. And do you prefer these difficulties to the things required to save you?

PRACTICE. - Lord, grant me the grace that you do not harm me!
