Devotion of the day: the treasure of indulgences

1. Treasury of Indulgences. Jesus who could, with a single drop of Blood, redeem millions of worlds, poured out everything with an overabundance of grace and merit. This inexhaustible superabundance, because it is infinite, which springs from the merits of the life, passion and death of Jesus to which he wished to associate the merits of Mary and the other Saints, forms an immense spiritual treasure which the Church can dispose of for our souls.

2. Preciousness of Indulgences. Think of the number of your mortal and venial sins; can you tell the length and gravity of the penance that God wants for every single sin? Do you know how many years of Purgatory you will be condemned to? Meditate that a partial Indulgence can free you from years of Purgatory; a plenary can remit you all the trouble; and this, applied to a soul in purgatory, can pay her all the debt! Will you then be indifferent to earning many?

3. Conditions for Indulgences. Consider how careful you must be to fulfill the necessary conditions for the purchase of Indulgences, in order not to lose such an easy treasure: 1 ° Being in a state of grace; 2 ° have the present or habitual intention of earning Indulgences; 3 ° To carry out with fervor and exactly the works prescribed by the one who grants Indulgences. See if you stick to these guidelines. Always have the intention of earning as many as you can.

PRACTICE. - Recite the acts of faith, hope and charity; apply the Indulgence, which is 7 years and 7 quarantines, to the souls in purgatory.
