Devotion of the day: the preciousness of confession

Its preciousness. Consider what misfortune yours would be if, having fallen into a single mortal sin, you were to be lost without remedy… In the midst of so many dangers, so weak to resist, such a misfortune could easily overwhelm you. The Angels, so noble spirits, found no escape from their only sin; and you, on the other hand, with Confession, always find the door of forgiveness open, even after a hundred sins… How good Jesus was to you! But how do you appreciate this Sacrament?

Its ease. God, for one sin of Adam, wanted nine hundred and more years of penance! The reprobate will pay, with an eternal Hell, the penalty of even a single mortal sin. It could well be that the Lord intimates you for a very long time of penance, before absolving you!… Yet no; A sincere contrition, the Confession of your sins and a little penance are enough for him, and you are already forgiven. And do you think it is so difficult? And do you feel bored confessing?

Sacrilegious confessions! Wouldn't you be one of those souls who, for fear of being known or reproached, for shame of an ancient or a new sin, do not dare to say everything? And do you want to change the balm into poison? Think about it: it is not God or the confessor that you do wrong, but yourself. Wouldn't you be one of those who confess out of habit, without pain, without purpose, with listlessness? Think about it: it is an abuse of the Sacrament, so one more sin!

PRACTICE. - Examine your way of confessing; recites three Pater to all the Saints.
