Devotion of the day: the chaste soul with Mary

Immaculate purity of Mary. Not subject to original sin, Mary was also exempt from the stimuli of concupiscence, which wages such a bitter war on us, with impure passion. Spirit, heart, body, everything was very pure lily in the Virgin, from whose gaze such a light of candor shone that it invited purity. Mary faithfully responds to divine grace; and, still a Child, she consecrates herself as a virgin to God, flees the world, and would renounce being the Mother of God, if her virginity suffered damage. O Mary, I was too pure ...!

Do we love purity? Who, in his life, should not complain of one or more falls regarding holy virtue? Who, in the tremendous battle that moves the flesh, in the multiplicity of thoughts, desires, impure temptations, always knows how to fight and win? God orders, in the commandments, to fight even dishonest desires. St. Paul would like that even the impurity among Christians be mentioned; Jesus, the Master, showed a fondness for purity; and what have I done?

The chaste soul, with the Virgin Mary. How dare I call myself the son of Mary if I am not chaste? With what courage will I pray to you for help, if my heart is in the hands of the impure devil? - Promise today that you want to be pure in thoughts, looks, words, works; alone and in company; day and night. Promise to use the convenient means to preserve purity, that is, prayer, mortification, the flight of occasions and ready recourse to Mary.

PRACTICE. - Recite three Hail Marys; practice purity.
