Devotion of the day: the two gates of Heaven

Innocence. This is the first door that leads to Heaven. Up there nothing gets stained; only the pure, candid soul, similar to the spotless lamb, can reach the Kingdom of the Blessed. Do you hope to enter through this door? In the past life have you always lived innocent? A single grave sin closes this door, for all eternity ... Perhaps you have just known innocence ... What a mess for you!

Penance. This is called the table of salvation after the sinking of innocence; and it is the other door of Heaven for converted sinners, as for Augustine, for Magdalene! ... Isn't it the only door that remains for you, if you want to save yourself? It is God's supreme grace that, after so many sins, he still admits you to Heaven through this new baptism of pain and blood; but what penance do you do? What do you suffer in discount of your sins? Without penance you will not be saved: think about it ...

Resolutions. The past reproaches you with continuous sins, the present terrifies you with the smallness of your penance: what do you solve for the future? Won't you try hard to keep one of the two doors open? 1 ° Confess immediately of the sins you keep on your conscience to have your soul purified. 2 ° Propose never to allow mortal sin that steals innocence again. 3 ° Practice some mortification, suffer with patience, do good, so as not to close the door of penance.

PRACTICE. - Recite the Litany of the Saints, or three Pater to them, so that they may get you entry into Heaven.
