Devotion of the day: recite the Te Deum during the day

Temporal benefits. On this last day of the year, ponder how many blessings you have received during this year that is about to end. Among the relatives and friends who were with you at the beginning of the year, how many are no longer! You were spared, by the grace of God. Every day you could have an illness, a misfortune ... Who escaped you? - God. Who provided you with food? Who kept you the reason, the ability to operate? Who gave you all you got? - God. How good it is to you!

Spiritual benefits. You could have become an ember of Hell in this year; and you deserved it for your sins! Woe if God did not support you. Instead, how many Graces have you received this year! Inspirations, good examples, sermons. Thanks for forgiveness of sins; of frequent Communions, of Indulgences; Thanks for strength not to fall, for fervor to progress… Jesus, Mary, the Angels, the Saints, what they did for you! Every moment of life is for you ... a treasure of thanks.

Duty of gratitude. Can you ever thank God enough for the blessings of this year alone? So what about those of the whole life? If you have a sensitive heart, how can you not feel obliged to be grateful and loving a God who is so generous with you? And yet, how many times during the year have you returned evil for good to God!… Today, repentant, spend the day in constant thanksgiving; love God, promise him fidelity forever.

PRACTICE. - Say the Te Deum during the day and repeat often: I thank you, my God
