Devotion of the day: the contrite soul at Mary's feet

Sinless Mary. What a thought! Sin never touched the Heart of Mary ... The infernal serpent could never dominate her Soul! Not only that, in the 72 years of her life, she never committed even the shadow of sin, but God did not even want her to be stained by the sin of origin at the moment of His Conception! ... : always candid… How beautiful you are, oh Mary!… How I recognize myself impure, stained, in front of you!

Ugliness of sin. We try so cautiously to escape misfortunes, afflictions; tribulations seem such ugly things to us, and to be feared; we do not account for sin, we repeat it quietly, we keep it in our hearts ... Isn't this a serious deception? The evils of this land are not true evils, they are transient and remedied; the true, the only evil, the true misfortune, is to lose God, the soul, eternity with sin, which attracts God's lightning upon us… Think about it.

The contrite soul at the feet of Mary. In the few years of your life, how many sins have you committed? With baptism you too obtained a candor, a wonderful purity. How long did you keep it? How many times have you voluntarily offended your God, your Father, your Jesus? Don't you feel regret? Do away with such a life! Detest your sins today, and, through Mary, ask Jesus for forgiveness.

PRACTICE. - Recite an act of contrition; examine what sin you most often commit, and amend it.
