Today's devotion: imitate the angels

1. The will of God in Heaven. If you contemplate the material sky, the sun, the stars with their equal and constant motions, this alone would be enough to teach you with what exactness and perseverance you must fulfill the will and orders of God. and the other as a sinner; all fervor today, lukewarm tomorrow; diligence today, disorder tomorrow. If this is your life, you must feel ashamed of yourself. Look at the sun: learn constancy in divine service

2. The will of God in Paradise. What is the occupation of the Saints? They do the will of God. Their will is so transformed into that of God that it no longer stands out. Content with their enjoyment, they do not envy others, indeed they cannot even desire it, because God wants it so. No longer one's own will, but only the divine triumphs up there; then the quiet, peace, harmony, happiness of paradise. Why doesn't your heart have peace down here? Because in it lies one's own selfish will.

3. Imitate the angels. If on earth the will of God cannot be fulfilled perfectly as in Heaven, at least let us try to approximate it; it is the same God who deserves it well. The Angels do it without question, very promptly. And how much repugnance do you do it? ... How many times do you transgress the orders of God and your superiors? The Angels do it out of pure love of God. And you do it out of vainglory, out of whim, out of interest!
