Practical Devotion of the Day: How to Listen to Mass

1. Various methods. The Spirit breathes where he wants, says Jesus, and there is no better method than the other; everyone follows the impulse of God. An excellent method is, during Mass, the meditation on the Passion of Jesus, represented in the Holy Sacrifice. It is also holy to accompany the acts of the priest with prayers suitable for penetrating the sanctity of the Sacrifice, for example with the use of the Messalino. But any other prayer or meditation is also a good thing, joining us with the celebrant. Adopt the method you feel most inclined to.

2. Listen to it with devotion. Faith paints the Altar for us as if it were Calvary: the Blood of Jesus is offered to the Father for our love: we can hope for so many fruits from the Holy Mass: the Angels assist you trembling, and we will dare to assist you without a soul, without love? Heaven rejoices, Purgatory awaits the fruit of the Mass, sinners implore the grace of conversion, the righteous for sanctification and we attend you cold!

3. Assist you carefully. In the time of Mass, we owe to God i! body in a humble and composed attitude, the penetrated spirit of the high mysteries and in fervent prayer, the heart warm with gratitude and love. But those who attend it like the Jews on Calvary, praetereuntes, with indifference, as if to any action: illudentes, almost as a game of habit, laughing; blasphemantes, sinning for vanity, for immodesty, for ulterior motives! Don't be one of these too.

PRACTICE. - Listen to the Holy Mass with all attention; offer it in suffrage of the Souls in Purgatory.
