Practical devotion of the day: the merit of reciting the Our Father well

It flowed from the Heart of God. Consider the goodness of Jesus who wanted to teach us how to pray, almost dictating the petition to be presented to the King of Heaven. Who better than Him could teach us how to touch God's heart? Reciting the Pater given to us by Jesus, who is the object of the Father's pleasures, it is impossible not to be heard. But more: Jesus joins us from. advocate when we pray; therefore prayer is sure of its effect. And do you find it too common to recite the Pater?

Praise of this prayer. We must ask God for two things: 1 ° save us from true evil; 2 ° give us the true good; with the Pater you ask both. But the first good is that of God, that is, His honor, His extrinsic glorification; to this we provide with the words Hallowed be Thy Name. Our 1st good, is the celestial good, and we say Your Kingdom Come; the 2nd is the spiritual, and we say Your will be done; the 3rd is the storm, and we ask for daily bread. How many things it embraces in a little!

Estimate and use of this prayer. The other prayers are not to be despised, but neither should we be madly in love with them; the Pater in his concise beauty surpasses them all, as the sea surpasses all rivers; indeed, says St. Augustine, all prayers must be reduced to this, if they are good, since it contains everything it does for us. Do you recite it with devotion?

PRACTICE. - Recite five Pater to Jesus with particular attention; think about what you ask
