Practical devotion of the day: imitating the charity of the Magi

Love was the motive for their journey. Seeing the star as herald of the born King, they felt a breath of love that inflamed them to seek him, to adore him, to love him, and immediately they left. Although God is invisible, all creatures breathe in us a breath of love for God; the sky, the herbs, the flowers, writes St. Augustine, tell me to love you, O God; the heart satisfied only in God, invites us, pushes us to love him, and how do we know how to raise ourselves from creatures to the Creator? Sursum corda: Raise your hearts.

Love was the end of their journey. Interest, honor, ambition, self-love did not lead them to the hut; but a secret and ardent love of God. Why were you created? To know and love God. - To what end is life granted you? To love and serve God. - What awaits you in Heaven? Possession of the love of God. - And you Fami God? What sacrifices do you make for God's sake?

Tenderness of love in the Magi. Who knows how to repeat the impulses, offerings, promises, consecrations of the Magi at the feet of the child Jesus? And who knows how to repeat the caresses, the consolations obtained by Jesus? Many complain about the lack of spiritual sweetness, but where are the sacrifices and our merits to obtain them? Only at the end of the journey did Jesus console the Magi and what do we expect? to be answered immediately and without sacrifices?

PRACTICE. - Reciting three Pater and Ave in honor of the Magi, ask them to obtain for you a spark of love to God, for you made a child.
