Practical devotion of the day: take Mary Magdalene as an example

1. The errors of the Magdalene. Woe to those who let go of the brake even to a single passion! Love is a noble passion for the human heart, provided it is directed to its object and within the limits of honesty; but if it transmutes, it becomes a torrent that overwhelms everything. How many fouls weep, how many mistakes are made, originating from unruly love! Magdalene let herself be seized, perhaps because presumptuous, vain, careless ... My soul, be careful of the dangers.

2. The penances of the Magdalene. Meditate on the public humiliation to which this woman exposed herself, who, without human respect, prostrates herself at Jesus' feet in the house of the Pharisee, cries, sighs, loves; and when he gets up he hears the dear word: Your sins are forgiven you. The penitent Magdalene wants to suffer for her God, so offended by her; therefore, hidden in a cave, she consumes all her life in fasting, in mortifications, in long prayers, in the most austere penance. And what penance do we do?

3. The love of the Magdalene. As soon as she is converted, she turns all her love to God; he no longer knows how to divide himself from his Jesus. In the ancestral castle he stands at His feet with the only thought of listening to him and loving him; he accompanies her to Calvary, to the sepulcher; he returns there, and not finding him, as nostalgic for him, he seeks him and his heart does not find peace until first he sees him risen again. So should the penitent do, that is to love God at least as soon as he offended him. Here! scolding for me!
