Practical Devotion of the Day: Let's take an example of the gold offered by the three wise men

Gold material. They came to Jesus with offerings, testimonies of respect and love. Jesus was King, and the King is offered gold, that is, the riches of the earth. Jesus was King, but voluntarily poor; and the Magi, depriving themselves of their gold, detach themselves from their riches for love of Jesus. And will we always be attached to gold, to the goods of the earth? Why don't we give to the poor with generous enthusiasm?

Corporal gold. While the hand held out the gold to Jesus, their body was bent with the knee on the ground in front of Jesus, not ashamed to humble themselves in the face of a child, albeit a king, but poor and on straw; this was the treat of their body. Why do we fear the world in the church, in the home, in the duties of the Christian? Why are we ashamed to follow Jesus? to mark ourselves devoutly with the sign of the 'Cross? to kneel in church? To profess our ideas?

Spiritual gold. The heart is our most precious thing and God wants it all for himself: Praebe mihi cor tuum (Prov. 23, 26). The Magi at the foot of the cradle felt a mysterious force that stole their hearts; and they gladly gave it entirely to Jesus; but faithful and constant in their offering, they never took it away from him again. To whom have you given your heart so far and to whom will you give it in the future? Will you always be constant in God's service?

PRACTICE. - Give alms in deference to the Child, and offer yourself entirely to Jesus.
