Practical Devotion of the Day: Follow Jesus as the wise men followed the star

It was, for the Magi, the divine call. Jesus invited the shepherds, faithful Jews, by means of an Angel, and the Magi, unaware of the true Religion, by means of a star. They answered the call. God calls us many times with remorse and punishments, with sermons, with good examples, with the sacraments: there are so many flashes of light for us; whoever follows them is saved, whoever despises them, woe betide…; woe to the Judas!

He was the guide of the Magi. How well he guided them to their end! The hand of God directed them, and they could not wish for anything better ... Some say: we too had a star to guide us to virtue, to perfection, to Heaven! ... This lament is insulting to God who never abandons us, and always he invites and guides with intimate calls, or with directors enlightened by him. How do we follow them?

She was a handmaid of Jesus. She stopped over the hut as an obsequious servant before her master, and as if inviting the Magi to come to Jesus. For us the handmaid of the Lord is Mary, who, shining like the sun, beautiful like the moon, clear as the morning star, guides us to Jesus and invites us to enter the divine side of Jesus. Let us always beg her, in every place, for any need: Respice stellam, voca Mariam ': Look at the star, invoke Mary.

PRACTICE. - Recite the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, begging her never to abandon you, until you have found Jesus in Paradise
