Practical devotion of the day: usefulness of novenas

What is the pious practice of novenas for? Our ardor of faith often warms; we need something that helps us to shake our torpor, to rediscover the lost path of virtue, to persuade us that we too can become saints. This is what the novenas aim for. If you follow them with fervor, don't you feel better afterwards? Of'; I want to be holy, and a great saint.

How to pass the novenas. Each saint has a particular virtue which stands out above the others, and which you lack; every saint succeeded as such because he wanted to be and won, mortified, prayed; every saint is a protector we have in heaven… In the novenas he prays, mortified, fervent, .. St. Francis de Sales invites us to wait for you without burdening ourselves with too many things, but carrying out all our duties with meticulous accuracy. How do you do it? What are you doing more than usual?

We are looking for a particular advantage for us. It is good to pray, but it is also better to practice the virtues: we meditate on these in the novenas, fixing ourselves on the one we are missing; we practice this every day, begging the Saint with frequent ejaculations to love us. Today, as we begin the novena of Blessed Sebastiano Valfrè, let us think of what virtue we need, and let us prepare to spend it in the meditated way.

PRACTICE. - Recite three Pater, Ave and Gloria al Beato, and propose to practice the virtue you have set for yourself
