Practical Devotion of the Day: Living the Faith of the Magi

Ready faith. As soon as the Magi saw the star and understood the divine inspiration in their hearts, they believed and left. And despite having many reasons for giving up or postponing their journey, they did not allow a reply to the heavenly call. And how many inspirations to change your life, to seek Jesus more closely have you had, and still have? How do you match it? Why do you move so many difficulties? Why don't you set out on the right path right away?

Living faith. The Magi, following the star, instead of the king sought, find a child on the humble straw, in poverty, in misery, yet they believe that he is King and God, they prostrate themselves and adore him; every circumstance becomes precious in the eyes of their faith. What is my faith in front of baby Jesus who weeps for me, in front of Jesus in the Sacrament, in front of the truths of our Religion?

Active faith. It was not enough for the Magi to believe in the coming of the King, but they set out to look for him; it was not enough for them to have worshiped him once, but tradition holds that, having become apostles, they became saints. What is it worth to us to be Catholics if we do not operate as Catholics? Faith without works is dead, writes St. James (Jac., Ch. II, 26). What good is it to be good sometimes if you don't persevere?

PRACTICE. - With the intention of accompanying the Magi on their pilgrimage, go to some distant church, and adore Jesus with lively faith for some time.
