Spreading faith with electronics in this pandemic period

Father Christopher O'Connor and a group of nuns are evangelizing through the electronics of the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians in Woodside, Queens.

"We are working together to bring Jesus to the people," said Father O'Connor.

The nuns are on a Lenten mission trip from Colombia and plan to return home on April 4, but Colombia has closed its borders. Now, the six sisters are stuck.

"[I'm] maybe a little worried because we're human," said Sister Anna Maria of Holy Love.

They are making the most of their situation by helping Father O'Connor stream bilingual videos in English and Spanish, which are going viral.

"We can feel the power of Jesus," said Sister Anna Maria.

These sisters live streamed a concert from the Queens Church on March 21st, which had over 100.000 hits.

They published a procession on March 16 as they traveled four miles with the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Woodside. The video has been viewed 25.000 times.

They tried again on March 24, capturing an emotional parishioner while Father O'Connor stopped at his home.

“I blessed her and she said, 'I really miss the church,' and started crying. I said, "I know. that's why I'm here, "explained Father O'Connor.

They continue to publish daily on the pages of the social media of the parish, live streaming, hours of holy prayer and evening reflections.

It is all about spreading the faith and advocating an end to the virus crisis.
