Divine Mercy: the thought of Saint Faustina of August 17th

2. The waves of grace. - Jesus to Maria Faustina: «In a humble heart, the grace of my help is not long in coming. The waves of my grace invade the souls of the humble. The proud remain miserable ».

3. I humble myself and invoke my Lord. - Jesus, there are moments in which I don't feel high thoughts and my soul lacks momentum. I patiently bear myself and recognize that such a state is the measure of how much I really am. What good I possess derives from the mercy of God. That being the case, I humble myself and invoke, O my Lord, your help.

4. Humility, beautiful flower. - O humility, wonderful flower there are few souls who possess you! Maybe because you are so beautiful and, at the same time, so difficult to conquer? God rejoices in humility. Above a humble soul, he opens the skies and brings down a sea of grace. To such a soul God refuses nothing. In this way it becomes omnipotent and affects the fate of the whole world. The more she humbles herself, the more God bends over her, covers her with his grace, accompanies her in all moments of life. O humility, lay your roots in my being.

Faith and loyalty

5. A soldier returning from the battlefield. - What is accomplished out of love is not a small thing. I know it is not the greatness of the work, but the greatness of the effort that will be rewarded by God. When one is weak and sick, he makes continuous efforts to get to do what everyone else normally does. However, it does not always manage to deal with it. My day begins with the struggle and also with the struggle. When I go to bed in the evening, I seem to be a soldier returning from the battlefield.

6. A living faith. - I was kneeling before Jesus exposed in the monstrance for adoration. Suddenly I saw his face alive and bright. He said to me, "The very one you see here before you is present to souls through faith. Although, in the Host, I seem lifeless, in reality I find myself fully alive in it but, in order for me to be able to work within a soul, it must have a faith as alive as I am alive inside the Host ».

7. An enlightened intelligence. - Although an enrichment of faith already comes to me from the word of the Church, there are many graces that you, Jesus, grant only to prayer. Therefore, Jesus, I ask you the grace of reflection and, combined with this, an intelligence illuminated by faith.

8. In the spirit of faith. - I want to live in the spirit of faith. I accept everything that can happen to me because the will of God sends him with his love, who wants my happiness. I will therefore accept everything sent to me by God, without following the natural rebellion of my bodily being and the suggestions of self-love.

9. Before every decision. - Before each decision, I will reflect on the relationship of that decision with eternal life. I will try to understand the main motive that drives me to act: whether it is truly the glory of God or some spiritual good of mine or of other souls. If my heart replies that it is so, I will be unyielding in acting in that direction. As long as a certain choice pleases God, I don't have to mind sacrifices. If I understand that that action has nothing of what I said above, I will endeavor to sublimate it by intention. But when I realize that my self-love is in it, I will suppress it at the roots.

10. Large, strong, acute. - Jesus, give me a great intelligence, only so that I can better know you. Give me a strong intelligence, which allows me to know even higher divine things. Give me an acute intelligence, so that I may know your divine essence and your intimate Trinitarian life.
