Divine Mercy: reflection 8 April 2020

Why did Jesus suffer as he did? Why did you receive such a serious plague? Why was his death so painful? Because sin has consequences and is the source of great pain. But the voluntary and sinless embrace of Jesus' suffering has transformed human suffering so that it now has the power to cleanse us and free us from sin and from any attachment to sin (See diary no. 445).

Do you realize that the extreme pain and suffering suffered by Jesus was due to your sin? It is important to recognize this humiliating fact. It is important to see a direct connection between his suffering and your sin. But this should not be a cause of guilt or shame, it should be a cause of gratitude. Deep humility and gratitude.

Lord, I thank you for all that you have endured in your holy Passion. I thank you for your suffering and cross. I thank you for redeeming the suffering and turning it into a source of salvation. Help me to allow the sufferings that I suffer to change my life and purify myself from my sin. I join my sufferings to yours, my dear Lord, and I pray that you will use them for your glory. Jesus I believe in you.
