Woman intubated with Covid-19 gives birth to her third child: "God made a miracle"

The young woman Talita Province, 31, contracted the Covid-19 during pregnancy and had to give birth while intubated in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Medical Hapvida, in Limeira, in Sao Paulo, in Brazil.

João Guilherme is the third son of Talita with Guilherme Oliveira and met his mother 18 days after he was born.

“It was an inexplicable emotion because what I wanted most was to meet him, what I wanted most was to touch him, see him. I talked to him, I told him: 'Mom, come home, let's stay together. Dad will take care of you now but mom will soon too. ' It was really exciting, ”said Talita.

Talita was hospitalized on June 22 in the 32nd week of gestation and 50% of her lungs were compromised. Her condition worsened and the birth had to be brought forward.

A regular pregnancy usually lasts around 40 weeks until delivery. “In a joint decision with the team […] and with the consent of the patient, who became aware of this decision, we decided to bring forward the birth,” explained the doctor.

The mother remained in intensive care and was able to see her son for the first time on July 13. Both were discharged on the same day. "See my children, see my family, to know that God is with us, to know that it exists and that it works miracles. And he worked a miracle in my life, ”the woman said.
