Two young people, aged 18 and 19, entered a church at night, forcing the windows to steal the offerings from the box placed under the votive lamps, ransacked the sacristy and damaged the statue of Santa Rita but, surprised by the carabinieri, have been stopped.

The two young men were arrested and placed under house arrest by the carabinieri of the Corigliano Calabro company for aggravated theft, damage and resistance to a public official.

The soldiers, alerted by a call to the operations center, arrived at the “Maria Santissima delle Grazie” church located in a main street of Corigliano Rossano, an urban area of ​​Corigliano, and surprised the two young men intent on breaking into the offering box.

As soon as they realized the arrival of the military, the two tried to escape. Blocked by the carabinieri they tried to free themselves. The parish priest also arrived on the spot and together with the soldiers counted the damages, which amounted to ten thousand euros.
