Spiritual Exercises: the image of the suffering Jesus

Which image of Christ do you feel most comfortable with? Which image do you identify most easily with? Do you see the image of Christ glorified as king of all? Or the image of Christ as a beaten and suffering man? Eventually we will fix our eyes on the Lord in glory and majesty and this will be our joy for eternity. However, while we are pilgrims in this earthly life, the suffering Christ should dominate our mind and affection. Because? Because it reveals the closeness of Jesus to ourselves in our weakness and pain. Seeing his wounds puts us to reveal our own wounds with confidence. And seeing our break in truth and clarity helps us to love our Lord more deeply. He entered suffering through his cross. He wants to personally enter your suffering while looking at his wounds.

Look at Jesus' wounds this day. Try to remember his suffering during the day. His suffering becomes a bridge for us. A bridge that allows us to enter His divine heart that he loved until the last drop of blood.

PRAYER

Lord, I look at you today. I observe every wound and every scourge you have endured. Help me to get closer to you in your pain and help me allow you to transform my own sufferings into an instrument of divine union. Jesus I believe in you.

EXERCISE: FROM TODAY AND FOREVER IN YOUR LIFE YOU WILL PUT IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES THE IMAGE OF CHRIST SUFFERING TO UNDERSTAND JESUS WHAT HE HAS SUFFERED FOR YOUR SALVATION. YOU WILL PROPOSE TO LOVE THE LORD THAT HE HAS LOVED YOU AND THANKS TO THIS HIS LOVE YOU WILL OBLIGE TO FOLLOW HIS TEACHINGS.
