Spiritual Exercises: Forgive people who have spoken badly about you

Perhaps everyone has suffered an unfair accusation from another. Maybe because someone else is honestly wrong about the facts or our motivation for what we do. Or, it could be more harmful and cruel to be falsely accused and it will most likely tempt us to react with anger and defense. But what is the appropriate response to such situations? Should we tire of silly words that mean nothing in the Mind of God? Our answer should be of Mercy. Mercy in the midst of persecution.

Have you experienced such injustice in your life? Did others speak ill of you and distort the truth? Think about how you react when this can happen. Are you able to receive these accusations as our Lord did? Can you pray for those who persecute you? Can you forgive even if forgiveness is not required? Engage in this journey, because you will never regret having taken the path of Divine Mercy.

PRAYER

"Father, forgive them because they don't know what they are doing." These were your perfect words of Mercy pronounced by the Cross. You forgave in the midst of your brutal persecution. Help me, dear Jesus, to imitate your example and never allow the accusations, malice or persecution of another to distract me from you. Make me an instrument of your Divine Mercy at all times. Jesus I believe in you.

EXERCISE: TODAY YOU MUST CONCENTRATE YOUR EXISTENCE ON FORGIVENESS. YOU MUST REMEMBER THOSE PEOPLE WHO EVEN FAITHFULLY HAVE SPOKEN BAD OF YOU AND YOU MUST FORGIVE. TODAY IN YOUR LIFE THERE MUST NOT BE A GRUDGE, A DIVISION BUT FORGIVENESS MUST BE THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING.
