Exorcism at the Sanctuary of Monte Berico in Vicenza, girl screams and blasphemy

Four friars of the Order of the Servants of Mary of Sanctuary of Monte Berico, Vicenza, they would have performed a rite of exorcism in respect of a young girl of 26 who would have attacked one of them during a Confession, with screams and blasphemies.

The episode, reported two days ago, Tuesday 7 December, from Vicenza newspaper, would take place on Sunday morning, December 5. The rite would have lasted several hours, with the friars who first removed the faithful from the hall of the "penitentiary"; Police officers and 118 operators also intervened on the spot.

At the end, the alleged possessed woman, coming from a town outside the province of Vicenza, fainted and was taken home. According to what has been reconstructed, the young woman's mother would have taken her to the Marian shrine of Vicenza after she had shown signs of imbalance, with violent behavior and blasphemous phrases.

At the time of the attack, the girl's brother was also present with her parents. The confessor asked for the help of the confreres, who first removed the other faithful from the penitentiary, and then began the rite of exorcism.

In the meantime, the police headquarters, the local police and the SUEM were called, but their operators remained outside the penitentiary. Around 20.30 the girl would suddenly fall asleep, exhausted.

To celebrate the exorcism was Father Giuseppe Bernardi, 80 years old. As reported on Repubblica, Carlo Maria Rossato, prior and rector of the Sanctuary of Monte Berico, said: "A girl tried to approach the sacrament of reconciliation but reacted with uncontrollable gestures right from the start". And again: “He was screaming and cursing. The presence of the evil one was visible ”.
