Femicides, a year of violence: Pope Francis "let's pray for them"

The situation of femicides worsened especially in the first half of 2020, it dates back to the period of the full lockdown, especially in the home environment, it seems that the victims almost all had an emotional bond with their executioner. The Italian situation in the last 20 years of history seems to have improved a lot, according to Istat studies, Italy is one of the safest countries in the world and since 1991 the cases of femicide have been reduced by at least 6 times. Let us pray to the Most Holy Virgin Great Mother of God to intercede with the Lord so that the victims who survived the attacks and the families of the disappeared, can bear physical or moral pain and face everyday life with courage. Let us pray that young people may freely choose with conscience to operate not with force and violence, but with reasonableness and mutual respect. Let us pray that citizens and institutions through their representatives will know how to pursue the path of solidarity and will know how not to forget the sacrifice of the victims of terrorism. Finally, let us pray for all those who work for the protection of others such as the police, the armed forces and the judiciary, so that this may be a comfort to them, especially in relation to the many adversities against which they work every day.
