Strong earthquake shakes the church during Mass and damages the Cathedral (VIDEO)

Un strong earthquake shook Piura, in the north of Perù, and caused severe damage to the city. The earthquake occurred at 12:13 pm on July 30 and had an intensity of 6.1 on the Richter scale, according to the National Seismological Center of Peru. One of the churches most affected by the earthquake was the parish of San Sebastián. There the earthquake surprised the faithful in the middle of the Mass and damaged the bell tower.

The Cathedral Basilica of Piura also suffered damage, especially on the facade.

After seeing the damage caused by the earthquake, several faithful gathered at the door of the Cathedral to pray.
