A photo taken on the feast of the Madonna makes one cry for a miracle

Coincidence or prodigy? This is what the many faithful of Fiuminata wondered, amazed by a photo taken during the fireworks in honor of the Madonna della Spina.

The image is venerated in the hamlet of Poggio Sorifa. Last September 19, as usual, the inhabitants of the hamlet of Fiuminata gathered to honor Maria Santissima della Spina, so called because legend has it that in the 600s, while a local girl grazed with her flock in a gorge that arrives under the Cornello pass, he saw a lady surrounded by a cloud appear over a stake of thorns.

The figure was attributed to the Madonna because the deaf-mute shepherdess, who belonged to the Saioni family - keep this name in mind - immediately ran to the village to reveal the prodigy and began to speak.

After more than 400 years, on the day of the celebrations in honor of the Madonna, it was a family of Poggio Sorifa, whose name was Saioni, who hosted Vincenzo Caso, a photography enthusiast of Fabriano, at his home.

This amateur photographer decides to take pictures during religious services, the procession and the fireworks and, after a few weeks, in taking the shots to be able to print them, he is amazed by what is in front of him.

Could it be the image that appeared before the eyes of the shepherdess? Above a bush of brambles, a white cloud seems to envelop the silhouette of a person. Madonna? Indeed Maria Santissima della Spina, in all the depictions appears above a cloud, just like the one photographed during the fireworks display.

This is testified by the holy picture of the Madonna and the painting, attributable to an anonymous 600th century artist who was restored by the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage of Rome. Back in Poggio Sorifa, the painting was kept by a member of the fraction to prevent it from being stolen. Later it was decided to exhibit it in the church but, after about a week, the painting was stolen.

The news of the prodigious photo has spread among the faithful who continue to formulate hypotheses on what someone calls "supernatural intervention". Hypotheses, which in a period in which there is no lack of difficulties, seem to create a reason for hope and serenity in people.
