The story of the miracle begins in July of 1656, when the bubonic plague spreads rapidly throughout the Kingdom of Naples, killing thousands of people. The city is in a state of panic and despair, and many seek refuge in churches, praying for an end to the plague.

It all begins with the landing of 40 Spanish soldiers carrying the bubonic plague with them. In a very short time the disease spreads and a real epidemic breaks out.

The first dead person was recorded in the city of Cava. In a short time, the accounting records of the time of the curia registered 6300 dead, including 100 priests, 40 friars and 80 clerics.

How the Eucharistic miracle happened
