Gospel of January 14, 2019

Letter to the Hebrews 1,1-6.
God, who had already spoken in ancient times many times and in different ways to fathers through the prophets, lately,
in these days, he spoke to us through the Son, who constituted heir of all things and through whom he also made the world.
This Son, who is the irradiation of his glory and the imprint of his substance and sustains everything with the power of his word, after having performed the purification of sins, sat down at the right hand of majesty in the highest heaven,
and he has become as superior to angels as more excellent than theirs is the name he inherited.
For to which of the angels did God ever say: "You are my son; Did I begot you today? And again: I will be his father and he will be my son »?
And again, when he introduces the first-born into the world, he says: "Let all the angels of God worship him."

Salmi 97(96),1-2.6.7c.9.
The Lord reigns, exult the earth,
all the islands rejoice.
Clouds and darkness envelop him
justice and law are the basis of his throne.

The heavens herald his justice
and all peoples contemplate his glory.
Let all the gods bow down to him!

You are, Lord,
the Most High over all the earth,
you are excelled over all the gods.

From the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 1,14-20.
After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee preaching the gospel of God and saying:
«Time is complete and the kingdom of God is near; get converted and believe in the gospel ».
Passing along the sea of Galilee, he saw Simone and Andrea, Simone's brother, as they threw their nets into the sea; they were in fact fishermen.
Jesus said to them, "Follow me, I will make you fishers of men."
And immediately, leaving the nets, they followed him.
Going a little further, he also saw James of Zebedee and John his brother on the boat as they mended their nets.
He called them. And they, leaving their father Zebedee on the boat with the boys, followed him.
