Greece: tearing from an icon of Archangel Michael

A miraculous icon ofArchangel Michael weeps in Rhodes. Rhodesians speak of a miracle, having seen an icon of the Archangel Michael crying in the Sacred Church of Archangel Michael in the Old Ialyssos Cemetery Saturday morning. At 14 pm Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes he himself went to the place where the icon is located following the reports of the faithful, in order to determine whether it was a miracle or some other event. The Metropolitan, after actually verifying that what appeared to be tears on the face of the Archangel, requested that the icon be moved from the point where it was hanging. They then examined the back side of the icon and the wall it rested on to determine if there was any moisture passing to the icon.

Having determined that this was impossible, the Metropolitan of Rhodes testified that it was in fact a miracle, and requested that the icon be brought to the Holy Dormition Church of the Theotokos in Ialyssos for public veneration, as well as to see if a change in the environment would stop the phenomenon. "We will move it to the big church to see how the phenomenon evolves," Metropolitan Kyrillos told the faithful who had gathered in the small chapel. The first to see the icon in tears were the women who went on Saturday morning to open the church and who in turn informed the vicar of the church, the vicar Fr. Apostolos, informs us that the icon was built in 1896 and had recently undergone maintenance by the archaeological department.

To this day, the icon continues to cry in its new environment, sometimes stopping but then continuing again, and it is also reported that a second icon of the Archangel Michael is crying from the original church as well. Large crowds gathered to venerate the icon and were anointed with holy myrrh. In the video below, you can see the moment the Metropolitan was investigating the icon as well as the testimonies of the residents.
