“I saw my father traveling from Purgatory to Paradise”, the story of a vision

In XVII century a girl in mourning approached the Benedictine abbot Millán de Mirando al Monastery of Our Lady of Montserratin Spain.

The young woman asked the abbot to remember his late father in three Masses. The reason? He was convinced that those Masses would speed up the parent's journey to Paradise, freeing him from pains of Purgatory.

Moved by the girl's faith, the abbot celebrated the first Mass the day after the request. During the liturgy, the young woman knelt down and, as she looked up, she saw her father near the altar where the priest was celebrating Mass.

The little girl described her father as "kneeling, surrounded by frightening flames“, Placed on the lowest step of the altar. The abbot was warned of that miraculous phenomenon and instructed the little girl to place a piece of fabric where her father was kneeling. The handkerchief caught fire immediately and, for the priest, was the sign of purification from the flames of purgatory.

A second Mass was then celebrated for the repose of the father's soul and again the young woman saw him. This time he was on a step standing next to the deacon and was "dressed in a brightly colored robe". The father was still in Purgatory but no longer touched by its flames.

During the third mass the little girl saw her father for the last time. During the Eucharistic celebration he was "dressed in a snow-white robe", but then something extraordinary happened at the end of the Mass. The young woman exclaimed: "Here is my father who goes away and rises to heaven!".

Therefore, he no longer had to worry about his father's soul because he knew with certainty that he had reached the gates of Heaven.
