The benefits of devotion to the souls in Purgatory

Awaken our pity. When you think that every slightest sin will be punished in the fire, don't you feel a stimulus to avoid all sins, coldness, negligence? When we think that every good work, every Indulgence is a means of avoiding all or part of Purgatory, do we not feel excited about them? Can we pray at the tomb of a father, of a loved one, and pray coldly? What a stimulus to our pity!

It directs us to Heaven. Purgatory is the antechamber of Paradise; the souls in purgatory are all holy, and, shortly, they will fly to Heaven; our suffrages are directed to anticipate their glory. The devotion of Purgatory reminds us of our last goal; the difficulty of getting there; it tells us that a holy work is worth more than all the gold and vanities of the earth; it shows us the place where we will find our loved ones ... How many consoling things!

We multiply the intercessors. The Souls, freed from Purgatory for our prayers, reached Heaven, will not forget us. Even a single hour of anticipation of heavenly glory is such a great good that it is impossible not to be grateful to us. And from there how many graces they will not obtain for us! Jesus himself who can finally reward his wives will be grateful to you; and Mary, the Guardian Angel of the soul, indeed all the Saints, who soon embrace one of their companions, won't they pray for those who have freed her? Do you think of so many advantages?

PRACTICE. - Recite a De profundis for the most devoted soul of Jesus and Mary.
