Coronavirus cases exceed 500 worldwide

The coronavirus has now infected over 510.000 people worldwide, about 40.000 compared to 472.000 cases confirmed early Thursday.

The number of positive cases is steadily increasing in countries such as the United Kingdom, Spain and parts of Southeast Asia as they approach the peak of infection.

Thousands of new cases have been confirmed in Europe and the United States in recent days, as governments impose stricter restrictions on trying to curb the spread of Covid-19.

China, where the virus originated, remains the country with the highest number of infections, with 81.782 cases, but has reported nearly zero new internal cases in the past few days.

Italy and the United States have the second and third highest number of coronavirus cases in the world, with 80.539 and 75.233 respectively, according to Johns Hopkins University
