On the 27th of each month: the Miraculous Medal and the consecration to Mary

The 27th day of each month, and in particular that of November, is dedicated in. special way to the Madonna of the Miraculous Medal. There is therefore no better time than this to deepen what represents the last step, the highest goal of our devotion, the essential part of the Rue du Bac Message: the Consecration. This is the realization of the desire of the Virgin who appeared as the Madonna of the Globe, holding in her hands, to offer her to God, "every soul in particular". The Consecration to Mary unites us more closely to her, it is the sign that we totally belong to her to find in her our peace and our joy. Whoever does not want to consecrate himself to Mary remains at his feet, as if he were afraid of throwing himself into his arms, of abandoning himself to her, as little Jesus did, so that Mary can do of us what she likes most, for our greatest good. , of those who care most about us and of all. But what does Consecration consist of? The P. Crapez, taking up the fundamental themes of the doctrine of San Luigi Maria di Montfort, explains: “Consecration is an act that constitutes a state. That is, it determines a way of life. The act of Consecration commits to the service of Mary, to the imitation of her virtues, specialmeute of that of purity, profound humility, joyful obedience to the Will of God, of her perfect charity ". To consecrate oneself to Mary is to choose her for Mother, Patroness and Advocate. It is wanting to work for her, for her projects, it is wanting to make many know her and love her more. Montfort dedicates the first part of his Treatise on True Devotion to explaining how important it is to belong to Mary. And this is because God wanted Mary to have an essential part in the work of the Redemption. This is why He wants it to play an equally important part in the work of our sanctification. This inseparable union and this collaboration of Mary with Jesus is shown on the medal from the cross placed on the M and by the two hearts. For this, we must turn to Jesus for Mary, we owe them love, gratitude, obedience. Consecration is all this together: it is the most perfect act of love, the most beautiful sign of gratitude, the most complete abandonment to Mary's Mediation. But the ultimate goal of devotion to Mary, in the highest expression which is the Consecration, is always Jesus. Bring it to him. Mary keeps nothing for herself, turns her gaze to God, tends only to Him and, even when she pauses to look at herself, she does it only to magnify the One who has done great things in her. And not only does Mary look to God, but she is full of God! It is meant to be only a pedestal, a throne, a monstrance of Christ. Mary aspires to nothing but to make Jesus reign in our hearts, in our lives. Jesus knew this, he knew that we needed this Mother to walk towards him and for this reason he made us a gift from the Cross.

Commitment: We renew our consecration with particular love and gratitude. Let's do it wholeheartedly in our own words or following the formula of San Luigi Maria di Montfort.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. You are blessed among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who turn to you.
