Centuria I, n ° 3-9, 15-16, 78, 84
"The good man draws the good out of the good treasure of his heart" (Lk 6,45:XNUMX)
He who blesses with his mouth but despises in the heart hides hypocrisy by covering it with love (cf. Ps 61 (62), 5 LXX).
He who has acquired love endures without disturbing the afflictions and pains that his enemies arouse.
Only love unites creation to God and beings among themselves in harmony.
He possesses true love who does not bear suspicions or words against his neighbor.
Those who do nothing that can destroy love are honored by God and by men.
The true word that comes from a good conscience belongs to sincere love.
He hides jealousy by covering it with benevolence who reports reproaches to one brother that come from another. (...)
Beware of intemperance and hatred, and you will not find anything that hinders you at the time of prayer.
Just as it is not possible to smell the perfumes in the mud, so it is not possible to feel the good smell of love in a soul that has a grudge. (...)
Bring the same love to everyone who does not envy the good and who has pity on the wicked. (...)
Do not believe in those who judge your neighbor, because if his treasure is bad (cf. Mt 6,21:12,35; XNUMX:XNUMX), his thought also considers only evil.
