Today's council 5 September 2020 of San Macario

"The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath"
In the Law given by Moses, which was only a shadow of things to come (Col 2,17:11,28), God prescribed everyone to rest and not do any work on the Sabbath day. But that day was a symbol and a shadow of the true Sabbath, which is granted to the soul by the Lord. (…) The Lord, in fact, calls man to rest, telling him: "Come to me, all you who are weary and oppressed, and I will refresh you" (Mt XNUMX:XNUMX). And to all souls who trust him and come close to him, he gives rest, freeing them from troublesome, oppressive and impure thoughts. Thus, they completely cease to be at the mercy of evil and celebrate a true Saturday, delicious and holy, a feast of the Spirit, with unspeakable joy and happiness. They render God a pure worship, pleasing to him since it proceeds from a pure heart. This is the true and holy Saturday.

We too, then, beg God to let us enter into this rest, to leave out the shameful, bad and vain thoughts, so that we can serve God with a pure heart and celebrate the feast of the Holy Spirit. Blessed are those who enter this rest.
