Divorce: the passport to hell! What the Church says

The Second Vatican Council (Gaudium et Spes - 47 b) defined divorce as a "plague" and it is truly a great plague against the law of God and against the family.
Against God - because it violates a commandment of the Creator: "Man will abandon his father and mother and join his wife and the two will be one flesh" (Gen. 2:24).
Divorce also goes against Jesus' command:
"What God has united, let man not separate" (Mt 19: 6). Hence the conclusion of St. Augustine: "As the wedding comes from God, so the divorce comes from the devil" (Tract. In Joannem).
To strengthen the family institution and provide him with help from above, Jesus raised the natural contract of marriage to the dignity of Sacramento, making it a symbol of his union with his Church (Eph. 5:32).
From this it is clear that secularist legislation, like the Italian one, denying marriage the character of a sacrament and introducing divorce arrogate a right they do not have, because no human law can conflict with the natural law, let alone the divine one . Therefore divorce goes against God and the family with irreparable harm to children who need the affection and care of both parents.
To get an idea of the extent of the plague of divorce, we give an American statistic. In the United States more than eleven million minors, children of separate couples. It is estimated that every year that passes another million children know the shock of the dissolution of the family and for 45% of all American children, born in any year, will find themselves with only one of the parents before they are 18 years old. And unfortunately things are not better in Europe.
The statistics of juvenile delinquency, of the suicides of boys are fearful and painful.
Whoever divorces and remarries, before God and the Church a public sinner and cannot receive the Sacraments (the Gospel calls him an adulterer - Mt. 5:32). Padre Pio of Pietralcina, to a lady who complained because her husband wanted a divorce, replied: "Tell him that divorce is the passport to hell!". And to another person he said: "Divorce is the shame of recent times." Should coexistence become impossible, there is separation, which is a repairable disease.
