Today's Gospel 23 October 2020 with the words of Pope Francis

READING OF THE DAY
From the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Ephesians
Eph 4,1: 6-XNUMX

Brothers, I, a prisoner for the Lord's sake, exhort you: behave in a way worthy of the call you have received, with all humility, gentleness and magnanimity, bearing one another in love, having at heart to preserve the unity of the spirit through of the bond of peace.

One body and one spirit, as is the hope to which you have been called, that of your vocation; one Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, works through all and is present in all.

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
From the Gospel according to Luke
Lc 12,54-59

At that time, Jesus said to the crowds:

«When you see a cloud rising from the west, you immediately say: 'The rain is coming', and so it happens. And when the sirocco blows, you say: “It will be hot”, and so it happens. Hypocrites! You know how to evaluate the appearance of the earth and the sky; why don't you know how to evaluate this time? And why don't you judge for yourself what is right?

When you go with your opponent in front of the magistrate, along the way try to find an agreement with him, to avoid that he drags you in front of the judge and the judge hands you over to the debt collector and he throws you into prison. I tell you: you will not get out of there until you have paid the last penny ».

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER
What is the message that the Lord wants to give me with that sign of the times? To understand the signs of the times, first of all silence is necessary: to be silent and to observe. And then reflect within ourselves. An example: why are there so many wars now? Why did something happen? And pray ... Silence, reflection and prayer. Only in this way will we be able to understand the signs of the times, what Jesus wants to tell us ”. (Santa Marta, 23 October 2015)
