Importance of the Eucharist. The effects that the Mass produces in us

Mass-1

AT MASS WITH PUBLIC FORCE?
Saint Teresa of Lisieux repeated: "If people knew the value of the Eucharist, access to churches should be regulated by public force."
The same one day, to try to explain the importance of the Holy Mass, Saint Pio of Pietrelcina said: “If men understood the value of the Holy Mass, at every Mass it would take the Carabinieri to keep the crowds of people in order in the churches".
THE STEPS WE TAKE WHEN WE GO TO MASS ARE COUNTED BY GOD
God also counts our steps when we go to Mass. Saint Augustine, Bishop and Doctor of the Church said it: "All the steps one takes to go to participate in the Holy Mass are counted by an Angel, and God will be granted a high prize in this life and in eternity".
WALKED 24 KILOMETERS TO GO TO MASS
To go to Mass on Sunday, the Lord's Day, S. Maria Goretti traveled 24 kilometers on foot, round trip! He understood the value of the Eucharistic Sacrifice.
HOW SHOULD WE PARTICIPATE IN THE HOLY MASS?
One day it was asked in San Pio da Pietrelcina: "Father, how should we participate in the Holy Mass?" Padre Pio replied: "Like the Madonna, St. John and the pious Women on Calvary, loving and pitying". We must therefore behave as did Mary, the Mother of Jesus, the Apostle John and the pious Women at the foot of the cross, because attending the Holy Mass is like being on Calvary: we physically find ourselves in church, but spiritually, with the mind and with the heart, we are on Calvary, at the feet of Jesus on the cross.
THE MASS AND THE GLORY OF GOD
Each of us was created to give glory to God and to save one's soul by earning Heaven. You can give glory to God in many ways, but none of them is comparable to Holy Mass. In fact, a single Mass glorifies God more than all the angels, the Saints and the Blessed will glorify him in heaven, for all eternity, including Mary most holy, because in the Holy Mass it is Jesus who gives glory to God for us.
WHAT EFFECTS DO MASSING PRODUCE IN US?
There are many effects that the Holy Mass produces:
- repentance and forgiveness of faults obtain;
- decreases the time penalty that we should serve due to our sins, shortening the duration of Purgatory;
- weakens the action of Satan on us and the fury of concupiscence (= excessive desire);
- strengthens the bonds of our union with Jesus;
- protects us from dangers and misfortunes;
- gives us a higher degree of glory in heaven.
MANY MASSES… MANY SAINTS
At the hour of death, the Masses in which we have devoutly participated will form our greatest consolation and hope. A Mass heard during life will be more useful than many Masses heard by others for us after our death. Jesus said to St. Gertrude: "Assure, to those who listen devoutly to the Holy Mass, that I will send, in the last moments of his life, as many of my Saints to comfort and protect him, as there will be the Masses well listened to by him".
TEMPLE OF GOD
When we receive Holy Communion, the other two people of the Most Holy Trinity come to us together with Jesus the Eucharist: the Father and the Holy Spirit. As in Baptism, even after receiving the Host, we are the Temple of God, the temple of the Holy Trinity, which comes to dwell in our hearts.
THERE IS ALSO A LADDER AT MASS
In 1138 San Bernardo, right in the place where the church of "Santa Maria Scala Coeli" stands today, at the Tre-Fontane in Rome (the place where San Paolo was beheaded), while he was celebrating a Mass for the dead, in the presence of Pope Innocenzo II, had a vision: in ecstasy, he saw an endless staircase that went up to heaven, on which, in a continuous coming and going, the Angels led to Heaven the souls freed from Purgatory from the sacrifice of Jesus (= Mass), presented by the priests on altars of all the earth.
LIVE ONLY ON EUCHARIST
The German mystic Teresa Neumann spent 36 years of her life without ever eating and drinking. A complete fast of food and water, total, absolutely inexplicable by science. From 1926 until the year of his death, which occurred in 1962, he fed exclusively on the consecrated Host, which he received by receiving Communion every day. By order of the Diocese of Regensburg, where the mysticism lived, Teresa was examined by a scientific commission, chaired by a psychiatrist and a doctor. These kept the mystique under observation for fifteen days and issued a certificate, which reads: “Despite the strict control, it was not possible to observe even once that Teresa Neumann, who was not left alone for even a second, took on something ... ". We can speak of a truly extraordinary fact.
THE HOSTY NOURISHES AND THEN… DISAPPEARS
For a very long period of time, which lasted 53 years (from March 25, 1928 to February 6, 1981, the day of her death), the French mystic Marta Robin did not take food or drink. Her lips were only moistened and she received Holy Communion every day. But the Host, before being swallowed, disappeared inexplicably between its lips. The phenomenon was observed by many witnesses. Combined with long fasting, it is a truly marvelous fact.
JUST THE EUCHARIST
Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa, born in 1904, was a mystic who received many graces from God. Some have to do precisely with the Eucharist. In fact, from March 27, 1942 until his death, which occurred on October 13, 1955, he stopped eating and drinking, limiting himself only to Communion every day. In 1943, she was admitted to the hospital of the Foce del Duro, near Oporto, and the doctors were able to examine her by strictly observing the total absence of food intake for 40 consecutive days, day and night. A scientifically inexplicable fact.
THE CATECHISM TEACHES (CCC, 1391)
“Communion increases our union with Christ. Receiving the Eucharist in Communion bears intimate union with Christ Jesus as the main fruit. In fact, the Lord says: "Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood lives in me and I in him" (Jn 6,56:6,57). Life in Christ has its foundation in the Eucharistic banquet (= Mass): "As the Father, who has life, sent me and I live for the Father, so also who who eats me will live for me" (Jn XNUMX , XNUMX)
SOUL OF CHRIST
According to some, St. Ignatius of Loyola wrote a beautiful prayer: "Soul of Christ", which is recited after receiving Holy Communion. Others attribute it to St. Thomas Aquinas. In reality it is not known who the author is. Here she is:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, comfort me.
O good Jesus hear me.
Hide your wounds inside your wounds.
Don't let me separate you from you.
Defend me from the evil enemy.
At the hour of my death call me.
And order me to come to you,
to praise you with your saints,
forever and ever. Amen.
